Jenkins Residence

Location: Richmond Hill, ON

The Jenkins Residence is a contemporary urban home shaped by light, movement, and layered spatial experience. The home balances privacy and openness, while maintaining a strong visual connection to the landscape.

At the heart of the home is a sculptural stair, acting as both a circulation element and an organizing feature that draws daylight deep into the interior. Carefully positioned glazing creates shifting light patterns throughout the day, animating the interior spaces and reinforcing the sense of vertical connection between levels.

Material selections emphasize warmth and contrast. Rich wood, refined stone and dark detailing create the homes moderen lines, which are tempered by the organic, natural elements. Interior spaces flow seamlessly from one to the next, with moments of compression and release that create a dynamic yet comfortable living environment.

Outdoor spaces are thoughtfully integrated into the design, extending living areas and providing moments for retreat within the urban setting. The layered garden views enhance the home’s connection to nature while maintaining a sense of enclosure and intimacy.
